Hi,

I did a full back-up before a hard-reset. I try to restore it using
activesync but cannot fully restored to the original state, it pop-up a
message saying that 'some files could not be copied/replace....', the
affected files are mainly *.dll and Database files. I notice that all my
contact, task and appointment are gone....

Please help!! all my life are depended on it, please help...

thanks

Since the databases and dll files are in use, it's often a problem
restoring it. Try performing a soft reset, then cradle the device.

For your PIM data, do you not synchronize with Outlook? All of your data is
still in Outlook.

I didn't sync my PIM data to outlook for some personal reason, all I have
now is only the back-up STG file. I thought full back-up is enough for
everything, isn't it? Is there anyway I can retrive PIM data from it?

ActiveSync doesn't exactly have a stunning backup program - I never
recommend it as a backup solution.

The problem is that the PIM databases are opened upon boot, and you can't
replace the files. The backup file is proprietary. Most of the time, PIM
data from ActiveSync is a moot point as people are synchronizing with
Outlook (or some other PIM program using third-party programs) to get their
PIM data from their computer.

I'll see if I can dig around and find some stuff, but I'm not hopeful.

I think I will not use activesync for backup anymore, I think the "full
back-up" in activesync is somehow misleading. Quite dissappointed.
Is there any "safe mode" for PPC so that I could able to replace those
files?

Thanks.
