When I open up multiple programs on my computer, the buttons on my taskbar
are no more than 2 cm in width. Is there a way to restore the width of the
buttons?

I am running windows vista

Hi J Dub,

This is normal. It's squeezes them together to make room for them on
the taskbar. The only way to restore the size is to close enough windows
until they are larger again. In the taskbar properties, you can check
"Group similar taskbar buttons" to help condense the multiple buttons
from the same program.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

you must make sure you have unlocked the taskbar by right clicking on the
taskbar and seeing that the LOCK TASKBAR entry is unchecked, then you will
notice that some
vertical "sizing handles" appear for the toolbars, one such toolbar you
probably have is called quicklaunch.

Grab the "sizing handles" and slide it so you make more space for the
taskbar button area. See this page for more info
(this is for xp but the same ol thing applies to vista)

One solution would be to increase the height of you task bar. Unlock it and
grab an edge until you get double arrows and pull it up until the buttons
get to the size you want. Then you can set it to auto hide and it will be
out of sight unless you move your cursor to the edge and restore it. Then
lock the task bar again.
