I deleted the trash can accidentally. Can someone advise me how to restore
it. I tried to drag it on the desktop but the can cannot show it when
empty.

Thanks,

Scott

Click on the Start button and then click on Help & Support.
In the Search Box type: Recycle Bin and press your Enter
key. Then click on the topic titled "Show or Hide the Recycle Bin".
Follow the instructions...

Come on !

If you do select delete, you get the following warning :
"Are you sure you want to delete the recycle bin icon from your desktop ?
To restore it later, go to Personalization in Control Panel."

Nothing retarded about that !

You're full of something.

Vista isn't to blame for people being scatterbrains.

People in a hurry, not in peak mental condition also drop their laptops,
spill coffee on them.
The OS can't protect against that neither.

Stop being a typical MS fanboy worshiper blindly defending poor
Microsoft design decisions. The FACT is Vista is ripe with all kinds
of sloppy choices that either lull users into doing something by
mistake or confusing them in how Vista will respond or annoying them
by repeatedly having to click something for the 100th time because
Vista is too damn stupid to learn and remember from past experience
like with the moronic UAC nag screens.

Such things aren't user error, they are clearly design error that a
more receptive company would have caught and CHANGED before the final
product was shipped.

>Vista isn't to blame for people being scatterbrains.

A GOOD design overcomes people having a lapse in judgment. How easy
the Recycle Bin can be removed by mistake is a classic example of POOR
DESIGN. Since it is reasonable to assume hardly anybody would ever
wish to remove the only means to remove files from the System without
going to the Command Prompt this should have been one of those
situations where a more obvious nag screen would be appropriate and
perhaps even a double warning to jar users about to make a probable
mistake to confirm that's what they really want to do.

Any company that would design a OS where you need to click on START to
STOP isn't very smart. Yet that is exactly what's expected. Click on
the Start Orb to begin the exit process. I'll love to know which
Microsoft "software engineer" or "designer" made that boneheaded
decision long ago.
>
>People in a hurry, not in peak mental condition also drop their laptops,

Now you're reaching. Good design flows from good function. That's true
for architecture, clothing, and yes, software. Another glaring blunder
is how Advanced Search is designed. I'm one of the few that's said it
works and might even be marginally better, but it totally sucks in
function forcing you to use it in unnatural ways. By making exclude
non indexed items the default instead of making include non indexed
items the default is again POOR DESIGN. The logic is simple. Most
people use search to FIND something they can't remember which folder
or ever which drive it's on. So of course the search should assume it
needs to look everywhere, not just in the handful of locations
Microsoft expects you to store data. So what does search do by
default? Only look in a handful of folders it probably isn't in. It's
just one poor design decision after another.

Microsoft's main problem is their arrogance which wrongly assumes they
(Microsoft) always know more about what you want to do or wish to do
than the end user does. This mentality pops up throughout Windows. It
rears it's ugly head in the desktop icons being rearrange if you
change resolution, Windows Explorer forgetting the settings you told
it to use and reverting back to what it wants, UAC nagging needlessly
over trivial things while at the same time making it way too easy to
delete something like the Recycle Bin. With so many blunders in design
it becomes clear Microsoft doesn't give a **** what users want, and
attempts to impose what it thinks is best and what it wants. That is
ALWAYS poor design.
