I'm thinking of buying a new computer with Vista home Premium. Will I have
problems restoring data from my old XP computer to applications like
Quicken, Quickbooks, Excel, etc?

It depends what you mean in your post!

You need the latest version of Quickbooks to work with vista.
If you were going to reinstall an earlier version of Q that you were using
in XP, it won't work due to incompatiblity.

And you have no probs transferring files.

Excel works fine.

Quickbooks and Quicken, you need to have at least the 2007 versions
installed for compatibility under Vista. Excel version 2000 and later should
work just fine on Windows Vista just as long as the latest Service Pack,
patches and updates are installed.

For Quicken, Quickbooks, do the backups as you usually do, then transfer
them to media which can be read by the new computer, a DVD or flash drive,
for instance.

Excel files just need to be copied, burned to the same media and moved in
the same way as the above..

Having the correct Quicken versions is important as you have already been
told..
