Restoring previous updates

I had to restore a backup from 4/17/09 (windows restore - XP Pro). The auto
updates are only showing June 9, 2009 updates. When applying these, it froze
my computer and I had to restore again. The "add/remove programs" only shows
updates up to 4/17/09.
Did I miss restoring something? or, how do I find and re-apply updates from
4/17/09 to 6/8/09? or, what's the best way to get back to normal?

Does Windows Update offer any critical security updates?

Looks like, in reviewing previous updates history, I am missing (KB890830)May
malicious software removal tool 5/14/09 and Microsoft search enhancement pack
5/28/09
It says they were successfully installed, but they aren't, as a result of
the restoration from 4/17/09. How do I re-install these two updates? All the
updates after that, from 6/9/09 forward, 'update' realizes my computer needs
those. It just thinks the two mentioned are already installed.

Ignore the Update History section: It doesn't "know" that you did the
restore.

If Windows Update (Microsoft Update, actually) doesn't offer any critical
security updates, the Jun-09 version of the MSRT or any Optional Software
updates, you should be good to go.

In the 'high priority' section there are 7 from 6/9 and 6/23. A frame work
update, security updates and a malicious software removal June update. Is
'high priority' what you mean by 'critical'? It seems when I installed these
before, that is when my computer locked up. So I thought maybe I needed to
install something between 4/17 and 6/9 before running these. or, is something
else going on?

For all intents and purpose, you may consider the .NET Framework update(s)
and the Malicious Software Removal Tool as "optional but recommend" updates,
Bob.

Given the hassles that some, but certainly not all, users continue to
encounter, I'd install everything but the .NET Framework update first.
YMMV.
