Here is the problem. I was either hacked or someone is this house(no one
will tell me) set up the password protect, so when you turn on the
computer, it asked you for a password. Well, my wife put in the disk
that came with the computer and reinstalled windows vista. So now all I
have is a recycle bin, and nothing else. I cant get on the internet or
do anything. I have window.old file, but everwhere I go to find out how
to restore it. It wont work. I do the command prompt thingy, but it
gives me a access denied. It wont let me rename anything or move
anything. Dell wants me to pay the $80 just to talk to someone. I cant
find anything on the internet either.

I need serious help. Thanks for any help

Hi,

Windows.old contains the data from your former installation. To access it,
you first will need to take ownership of it from the folder's properties
(security tab/sdvanced). From the command prompt, you would use icacls.

What your wife has done is basically created a new installation. Software
will need to be reinstalled, and that may include software that supports
whatever type of connection you use.
