restricted login

My wife was logged into my PC with a restricted login, which should not allow
for any updates, but the MS automatic update program downloaded software
updates anyway and the update was successful. Is there a way around the
restricitons of a user login?
I have MS WIndows 2000 professional.

This is normal, and working as designed. Windows Automatic Updates can
apply updates even when the logged-in user is not an Administrator. This is
the whole point of having Automatic Updates.
