this is a brand new computer, built from the ground up. the only thing
not new is the mouse/keyboard. i had some problems at first where it
kept bsod on me, and that seemed to be resolved after i took out a
couple sticks of ram. it ran alot smoother. now i have a few new
problems.

i was in the middle of playing hl2, i had been playing for a couple
hours and all of a sudden, i lost functionality in my mouse. (background
info: the mouse and keyboard are wireless and both are ps2, i only have
1 ps2 port, so i got a usb splitter to combine the 2.

i exited the game through the keyboard, but i still did not have mouse
control. i was trying to shut down through the start menue, and i
thought it was shutting down, b/c the screen went black just like when
there is no signal. the only thing was, the cpu and fans were still
running. so i hit the power button to manually shut it down. it went
down, and when i hit the power button again, i got "resuiming windows"
and then the monitor went black again.

i tried booting from the cd, but i still did not have mouse
functionality and all the diagnostics says windows is running fine, i
did not have a chance to try and boot again w/o the cd so i do not know
if it was a simple fluke.

i have read a few things saying that it was prolly just in hibernate
mode. if it was, why did it go into hibernate mode when i was in the
middle of playing a game? why did the mouse just cut out? help?!?!

btw, the mouse/keyboard are gigaware, i believe, and i never had a
driver disk for them.

Flat battery in the mouse? Poor quality signal to/from the receiver?

Possibly the keyboard/mouse are too old to be properly supported by Vista?

Is this the product you mean?:

yes. apparently the mouse just went out. i replaced the batteries, th
laser comes on and reacts to surfaces, but the pointer did not move;
replaced it w/ a cheap usb mouse and ordered a razer copperhead =
