Hello everyone,

Anyone have any idea how to setup a VLSM network (below) in Windows 2003?

Subnet 0 / 192.168.1.0 - .63 (/26, 192)
Subnet 1 / 192.168.1.64 - 95 (/27, 224)
Subnet 2 / 192.168.96 - 99 (/30, 252)

This is a requirement for a University assignment and Google has turned out
no answers..

Any help is appreciated!

Cheers

Hello lieb39,

Will you run them on one switch? Please be more specific about your setup.
This sounds more like a networking question. If you like to have different
subnets in windows that is not a problem, separate them with VLAN's or use
routers.

Best regards

You can create multiple reverse subnets, such as for each one, such as for:

Subnet 0 / 192.168.1.0 - .63
0.1.168.192.in-addr.arpa

and
Subnet 1 / 192.168.1.64 - 95 (/27, 224)
64.0.1.168.192.in-addr.arpa

Or simply create a reverse subnet for 192.168.0.0, and each subsequent octet
will be created as a subfolder under it. This works because DNS looks at it
as a whole and disregards the subnet value, and it allows you to organize
them based on the 3rd octet.

If you want to create a reverse zone for each subnet, you will have to do it
in Advanced mode and edit the text file. If AD integrated, create it first
as a Primary, change it, then make it AD integrated when done.
How to configure a subnetted reverse lookup zone on Windows NT ...With a
text editor, open the non-subnetted reverse lookup zone file that you have
just created.
