So you want us to tell you how to reconfigure your operating system and
software suite based on just ONE fact (that you probably now have IE8)?

That depends on the operating system (i.e., which version of Windows).
If IE8 is the baseline version included in the OS, you can't go back.
You cannot uninstall the baseline version but you can upgrade it to a
later version.

There may be a means of deleting files and then digging through the
registry along with finding all the interdependencies (which can be
several layers in depth and span lots of keys and data items within
them) but my guess is you want a simple uninstall procedure, like going
to the Add/Remove Programs applet in Control Panel to go find "Windows
Internet Explorer 8" to then uninstall it. That depends on what version
of Windows that you have.

Windows 7: Internet Explorer 8
Windows Vista: Internet Explorer 7
Windows XP: Internet Explorer 6
Windows ME: Internet Explorer 5.5
Windows 2000, 98SE: Internet Explorer 5.0
Windows 98: Internet Explorer 4.0
Windows NT 4.0: Internet Explorer 2.0

If you have Windows 7/Vista, there is no earlier baseline version of IE
to which you can revert. So, again, whether or not you can revert
depends on which version of Windows that you have but never mentioned.
If you can revert then go look in the Add/Remove Programs applet as it
should be listed there.

--- Posting Hints ---

ALWAYS REVIEW your message before submitting it. You want someone OTHER
than yourself to understand your post. Also remember that no one here
is looking over your shoulder to see at what you are pointing. If you
don't well explain your situation by providing the DETAILS that you
already know, don't expect others to know what is your situation.
Explain YOUR computing environment and just what actions you take to
reproduce the problem - and describe the problem so OTHERS know of what
you are asking for help.

Often you get just one chance per potential respondent to elicit a reply
from them. If they skip your post because you gave them nothing to go
on (no details, no versions, no OS, no context) then they will usually
move on to the next post and never return to yours.

Alto's snide reply is trying to use redirection to hide that he is
telling you to use the lmgtfy.com site which is to berate others for not
using an online search engine before asking (i.e., expend some effort
before asking to do your work for you).

To see where a TinyURL redirection will take you, add the "preview"
hostname to the URL, as in:

http://preview.tinyurl.com/6df8xza

You will then see the redirection takes you to:

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=revert+to+ie8

Since this merely pushes the query to Google's search engine, alto
could've merely told you to go to:

http://www.google.com/search?q=revert+to+ie8

alto didn't even bother to include the "+" operator to identify which
words were required or to quote the string if he meant for the OP to
actually search on that string, as in:

http://www.google.com/search?q=%2Brevert+to+%2Bie8
or
http://www.google.com/search?q="revert+to+IE8"

Rather than give you the actual Google search URL with *usable* search
parameters so you don't end up with a worthless list of millions and
millions of hits, he gives you a rather useless search by sending you
through a berate-the-lazy-user site. alto is more lazy than the
original poster.

When alto comes here to ask for help as he has in the past, we should
remember his style of helping others and in like manner respond to him
with a useless redirect through lmgtfy.com.

Didn't like getting exposed for being lazier than the OP, did you?

While Alto's method of response may not have been the best, I do
wonder why many people ask questions in newsgroups without,
apparently, using Google first and thus getting a much quicker answer
to their problem.

As a matter of interest, I did two searches using the following:-

revert to ie8
revert+to+ie8

Both returned "about 260,000 results"

Both had, as far as I could see, identical items in the first two
pages of results.

Google say to place the + in front of the word for which you do not
want synonyms so, strictly speaking, you would use this search term:-

+revert+to+ie8

But this gives about 760,000 results! (I wonder why more than
revert+to+ie8 ?)

Anyway, using the + would mean that some desired results could be
missed. For example:-

+revert+to+ie8

would not show you:-

return to ie8

(unless the web page that is found had both terms in it)

Allowing Google to search for synonyms can be useful at times so I do
not usually use the + before words.

As opposed to dragging your feet on your low horse.
