(repost because still no solution, sorry)
When I click on "Review your update history" in Windows Upate I get the
correct page with the three icons (Succeeded, Cancelled, Failed) and the
header of the list. But the list is empty and after about a quarter of a
second the page disappears and I get the error message "The website has
encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view.
...." [Error number: 0x800A138F]. The rest of the update site works. Only one
hardware update won't install for unknown reasons, but this is not the
problem I want to solve here - I want to see the Update history! Other
updates and hotfixes do install correctly. I'm using Windows Server 2003
English.
What I have done already:
- The file "Windows Update.log" has no entries at the time when the problem
happens.
- Clearing History, Cookies and Cache didn't help
- All necessary sites are listed in the sites list in trusted sites of IE,
and restricted sites list is empty. The Security level for trusted sites is
at default.
- Clear SSL state and AutoComplete history
- SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0 are enabled
- "Check for server certificate revocation" has been switched off
- Date and Time settings are correct
- There is a correct language setting in IE
- Temporarily disabling Symantec Antivirus didn't help and there are no
other such products running.
- Program Files\Windowsupdate has been deleted, but after reboot and retry
it didn't reappear, but problem persists
- 128bit encription is displayed in IE About
- Connection / LAN settings is correctly set to our company proxy and
working fine
- hosts file is empty (contains only localhost)
- I've tried to regsvr32 urlmon.dll, shdocvw.dll, msjava.dll, mshtml.dll,
browseui.dll
- I have no akamai certificate installed
- I tried regsvr32 msxml3.dll
- I tried net start cryptsvc and regsvr32 softpub.dll, wintrust.dll,
initpki.dll, dssenh.dll, rsaenh.dll, gpkcsp.dll, sccbase.dll, slbcsp.dll,
cryptdlg.dll
- etc.
Now I have no more ideas. All other things on this machine work fine and I
don't want to fdisk / reinstall all just because of this problem.
Any more ideas?
Eric
