Right click on screen caused Hourglass Hang since KB908531
Not a HP issue.
It was a NVIDIA Display adapter issue.

1) Updated to the latest NVIDIA driver.
2) Downloaded the free ShellExView ver 1.14 from
http://www.nirsoft.net/
3) Ran the Shell Viewer and disabled the two NVIDIA context menu items.
4) Reinstalled KB908531

All computer functions are working fine now with KB908531 updated

Been driving me nuts for days............ Jim

Actually it may have been the NVIDIA driver update that fixed the issue.

Jim

It is the disable of Nview Desktop context menu via ShellEXView that fixed
the problem. I didnot update the drivers but simply used the ShellExView to
disable Nview Dwestop context menu which then fixed the right click problem
for me. I also have a HP and with all the thredas pointing to HP fix, I
sepnt few days try to figure out why the HP registry fix will not work for
me.. Guess the HP registry fix only applies to those who has Share-to-web in
their system which in my case is not.

Is your NVIDIA card from an OEM or did you purchase the card separately.
My card which I got from Dell is the NVIDIA GeoForce 6800 and is not
listed on the NVIDIA web site.

The Dell site does have an update for my particular card but it does not fix the problem.

Um, yes it is. Click on Graphics Driver in the box on the left, GeForce
and TNT in the middle box and then choose your operating system.

did a reboot and it is still working perfect with the update installed ...

Alan

Before you try to update the drivers, you may want to give this a try first.
Get the ShellEXView utility from this site
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html. Installed it & run it to see
whether you have NView Desktop context menu there. If yes, disable it and see
whether that can help. If not, you can enable it back and then proceed the
drivers update. If you find Nview Destop context menu, I am almost sure you
can disable it and fix the problem without updating the drivers.

Yes.. If you are sure you have found the correct drivers for your card.. I
have bad experience before when I downloaded the drivers from nVidia website
for an onboard video chip (OEM type) and messed up my whole system !!!
