Right-Click not working

The right-click for desktop- and startup menu items is not working and
neither is the Shut Down button, meaning the computer is not turning off
automatically. I definitely need some help with this one.
No idea what could have caused it and what can be done about it at the
moment.

It appears to have been a temporary situation, somehow I was able to restart
the computer with one of the programs and after that things were back to
normal.
Still don't know what may have caused the scare.
