Rip error for some tracks, not others

I just started getting an error where some tracks from a CD will rip just
fine, while others on the same disc will not. I am ripping from a Windows 7
PC to a Netgear ReadyNAS media share, MP3 format at 256k. Most of the time
track 1 will say "error" under status, as will 3 or 4 others. All the rest
say "ripped to library". No specific error code is given, or I don't know
how to find it. This setup used to work fine, and I don't recall any
changes. Any thoughts?

Intentional bump. I know someone has to have the answer to this. Anyone?
Bueller?

If you try ripping a CD with an external tool, such as CDex -
http://cdexos.sourceforge.net , does that work?

Regards

Thanks for the response and suggestion. Here's what happens during the
trial. CDex works fine. The drive keeps spinning and the program keeps
ripping until all files are done. No errors.

With the same 11 track disc, WMP errored 5 of them, and the drive spun down
after each track, error or not. Between tracks 5 and 6, everything paused
for about 40 seconds. Took four tries to finally get all the tracks ripped.

Also, in case I didn't make it clear before (and I think I didn't), this is a
network related problem. Discs will rip to my local hard drive just fine.

The obvious workarounds for this are to rip to your local hard drive,
and move the tracks to the media share afterwards, or to just use CDex
instead.

You could also try posting this on the Windows 7 Media forums at
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/...?prof=required
