roll up 1 for MS Windows XP (KB826939) is it really SP2?

can anyone answer my question please? i do not wish to install sp2. the auto
update suggests installing 'roll up 1 (KB826939)', so when my fire wall
prompts me to allow the connection contained within the 'address' is
'wxsp2.windows update.microsoft.com' the worring part of this is the
'wxpsp2'. i suppose that this is 'windows xp service pack 2'. exactly what i
do not wish to install SP2. Am i correct? is this a sneaky way to get people
to install SP2? i would like security updates but i do not want anything to
do with SP2? any suggestions anyone?

No, you are not correct. Supplemental updates released after SP1 was released
are noted as a SP2 hotfix and not the full SP2 installation package.

ok fair enough it is not a full install of SP2, just the security updates -
that will do for me! As for being smart, well i suggest anyone who wishes to
be smart should look on as many forums as you can (not just here!) and take
note of the mess people are in by installing SP2.

I do not think that is indicative of the problems caused by SP-2 as
much as it is the large number of computers getting SP-2.
If any application was installed on a computer in the numbers
installing SP-2, my guess the problems would be as much if not more
than you see with SP-2.
