Open Widows Live Mail > menu bar, Tools > Message rules > Mail > select
New.....
select the Conditions,
select the Actions, then also select " Stop processing more rules "
to edit this description ( self-explanatory ),
SAVE RULE.

Incidentally, your date setting is one day into the future.

New to WLMail means that the menu bar is probably not showing.
Alt + T opens the Tools Menu bar.

To add...
1. Rule options in WLM are not as extensive as in Outlook
2. Rules do not work on accounts setup as Http(Hotmail, Live, and Msn.com) or IMAP

One rule you might like is to change the light gray text of a read messages for mail and news

For all messages
Highlight it with Black
and Stop processing more rules

Note: Instead of Black one can also choose 'Default' or any other available color

Winston,
I have one addition and one correction.

Outlook can have rules for outgoing messages, WLMail cannot.

........change the light gray text in the message list.

Several columns of unread and read are gray without the rule.

I am new to Windows Live Mail.
At work, I'm used to work with Outlook.
I want to know whether it is possible to create rules that sort your mail in
WLM. If it is so, how do you do it?

Many thanks!

Thanks..

Yes....if using Vista or Win7, gray text in other columns can be overcome with changing the color in the Appearance Properties
'Disable Item' to black(or another color). Doing so also applies to Pop3/Http mail messages.

I don't understand why rules don't work in WLM for incoming Hotmail. It seems
a very curious restriction. I'm using WLM 8089 on W7 since on W7 x64 Outlook
and Outlook Connector seem to offer a range of bugs which make them pretty
much unuseable (like losing accounts as the fancy takes and then refusing to
open the folders or reconnect, leaving an interesting "Unkown" but
unopenable folder set which cannot be renamed!!). But having to sort incoming
by hand in WLM is very tedious. Suggestions gratefully received.

If you set up the Hotmail account as POP3 rather than HTTP, then message
rules will work, But you lose other functionality.

Although some other mail clients support message rules for IMAP, and
theoretically WLM could do HTTP, the WLM developers have elected to just
do message rules for POP3

To make a suggestion to Microsoft
