To add the Run command to the Start menu:

Right-click on the Taskbar and select Properties.
Click the Start Menu tab, and then click Customize.
In the list of Start menu options, select the Run command check box,
and then click OK.
The Run command will be displayed on the right side of the Start menu.

That's the way that I had done it before, but it no longer appears in the
list, I still have the run as a clickable choice in "All
Program/Acessories", but that is all

To use the Run command, simply click on the blue Vista start
button and type: RUN in the "Start Search" box and the Run
icon will appear at the top of the Start Menu. You can also
right-click on the Run icon and select "Send To > Desktop
(create shortcut).

Read Carey's reply, but let me also mention two other alternatives:

1. On the start menu, use the "start search" bar as a place to enter
commands.

2. Hold down the Windows key and press "R" to pop up a Run command
window.

SP1 did not remove the Run command from the right side of my Start menu.
It's right where it was before.

In the Start Search box, type 'regedit<enter>'

In the registry, navigate to:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer]

In the right-hand pane, look for a value named 'NoRun' and delete it if it
exists.

The "NoRun" does not exist, and the RUN coomand as disappeared from all
users, and a friend of mine notice that in its place there is a new SEARCH,
which does nothing since the search in Vista does not exist anymore
