Running sql server 2000 and/or sql server 2005 on sbs 2003

My ultimate questions will be: Can SQL SErver 2000 and 2005 run on the same
ssbs2003 server? and, regardless, Should I/ can I uninstall SQL Server 2005
and go back to SQL Server 2000.

Moving from SBS2000 Premium to SBS2003 Premium on a new server. We were
using SQL Server 2000 on the old server for a few things: Backup Exec, Prolog
(construction mgmnt software), Great Plains (MS financial), etc. During the
install, I kind of just followed directions and installed R2, which I guess
installed SQL Server 2005. I wasn't really aware of options. Since then I
have had a number of problems that seem related to SQL 2005.

For one, I've having trouble with the communication between our primary
business app (S2000Win, a service dispatch software with billing
functionality) and the aforementioned Great Plains, which does GL and AP.
We're supposed to be able to export data from S2kWin and have it read by
Great Plains, but this isn't working.

Second, I can't get Backup Exec 10d to load. Beserver.exe loads and hangs
with the status of "Starting" and I haven't been able to resolve it yet. I'm
working with Symantec people on another forum for that (but if you have any
ideas, feel free to make my holiday.) While installing, BE says that the
SQL2000 instance isn't updated to the correct service pack and that it will
have to install MSDE. Although BE says they support sql 2005, some tech
support forum help believes that my problem may come from MSDE and 2005
running together. Go figure.

I now believe I could have just stuck with SQL Server 2000.

Beware of Stupid Questions! (I've been able to get by so far without really
understanding SQL server and BE and Quantum Theory.)

But first, can I run "SQL Server 2000 and 2005 on the same server? Could I
then choose which to use for which database? And, even if it's possible, is
this a terrible idea?

Is it possible and wiser to uninstall the SQL server 2005 and go back to
running 2000? Can I do this without starting over? Can I just uninstall the
SQL Server 2005 and reinstall 2000 without running a whole reinstall? (Better
yet, can I uninstall SQL2005 and have SQL2000 miraculously appear in it's
place while harp music plays in the background and I am suffused by a warm,
illuminating light?)

I believe everything I have will run on SQL Server 2000. In fact, I know it.

As I understand you may want to use some of the SBS 2003 R2 features but still keep your SQL 2000 STD instance to deploy Line-of-Business Applications in your SBS 2003
