Running Update Advisor

I would like to run the Update Advisor prior to upgrading from Windows98 to
Windows XP. However, the Microsoft website advises not to download the
Advisor unless you have DSL or Cable Modem. Is there any alternative?

Are you sure?
You still should be able to download the Upgrade Advisor and run it
locally:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/h...g/advisor.mspx
