Running Updates manually?

I have set my Automatic Updates setting to "Notify me but don't
automatically download or install them." With this updates run on the
system startup, I can see a yellow icon in the system task bar, but my
wireless adapter doesn't connect straight away (I can see see Wireless
Network Connection to say it's connected and Signal Strength is
Excellent, but no internet.. i don't wanna go into this, it's another
story.. just mentioned in case you wonder) so I have to repair the
wireless connection to get a live internet connection. But in doing so
update icon disappears.

Is there any run command that I can use to bring the update back after
I have managed to connect to the internet properly. I don't want to
use the update website every time. So, I'm hoping if anyone can help.

Except it sounds like fixing that would avoid your problem symptom? ; )

....or at least modifying your repair procedure? <eg>

Check to see (e.g. with Task Manager's Processes tab)
if that means that wuauclt.exe is no longer running.
If so, why would that be? Something that your repair procedure causes?
If you're not sure you could run ProcMon to find out when it goes away.
(Why it goes away might even be inferred that way.)
There might even be some clues in the WindowsUpdate.log
and running ProcMon could show you how those relate to your
problem symptom(s). Etc.

If wuauclt.exe is gone you could try restarting it with Run...

wuauclt.exe /detectnow

Well I have resolved the wireless connectivity problem, so now when I
start my pc it connects to the wireless connection straight away. But
"wuauclt.exe /detectnow" didn't fire up the updates, don't know why.
But thanks for help.
