Runtime Error 91

Greetings!
I installed Vista this past week. It was a clean install, not an upgrade
install. I have a game program, Pretty Good Solitaire, which worked fine
under XP2. After installing Vista, I did a clean install of Pretty Good
Solitaire using the exe file that they claim will work with Vista. Now,
almost every time I try to reset Options in the solitaire program I get a
"runtime 91" error message; and when I click "OK" the program closes. I have
contacted the company twice and received essentially, "Gee, this beats the
heck out of us!" responses. I have done Google and WindowsLive searches,
too. I have continued to be unsuccessful in finding a solution. I realize
that one possibility for this is a software conflict; but I'm uncertain how
to reliably diagnose this without unistalling and reinstalling everything to
see if there are problems. You folks are my last resort before I just
surrender and remove this program altogether. It's a fun program which I'd
like to keep; therefore, I'm hoping that you can help.

Go to Windows update and see if you get offered .net framework updates,
if so download them and try again.

The author may also use Java (Same idea as .NET really) but I don't see
it on his website. The Java machine could show the same kind of error.
java.sun.com will have the latest, you can look in control panel
"Uninstall" to see what version you have, if you get offered a new Java
you should remove the older one, not so with .NET and you won't get Java
updates from Microsoft

Your suggestions appeared to work beautifully, especially regarding
the java machine. It even "fixed" another problem in another program
that i subsequently discovered. I'll keep watching things, though, to
make sure they don't recur. In the meantime, thanks much!

No problem. Old Java machines don't get removed so if there is a
security issue in one then installing a later one "Can" leave the
vulnerability still there, it is possible for a malicious program to
call a Java machine by name / version, though by default the newer one
would be used.

The .NET framework or CLR (Common Language Runtime) is the same kind of
thing but that does get fixed / updated so there's only one per version
of .NET present.
