After installing SBS2003-SP1, the companyweb option on the RWW menu
disappearred (it had been present prior to SP1). Attempting to access the companyweb directly (https://[ip address]/companyweb) gives me the following error: "HTTP Error 403.6 - Forbidden: IP address of the client has been rejected". No IP addresses are being blocked in IIS. Also, I have reinstalled the SP, rerun the Internet/email wizard many times, and changed the registry (portal entry) to display the companyweb. |

HI Bob,
Welcome to SBS newsgroup. Issue description: =========== I understand that the companyweb link disappear from the RWW website after you apply the SBS 2003 SP1. Analyzing and suggestion: ============ Before we go any further, please understand that by default we can not access the companyweb via https://[ip address]/companyweb, we need to access it via https://FQDN or (public IP address):444 if you have published the companyweb to the internet. Let us focus on the first issue. Generally speaking, the link on the RWW website is depend on the registry key value, it might be caused by some application have change the registry value, you can refer to my suggestion below: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SmallBusines sServer\RemoteUserPortal\A dminLinks \STS (for Administrators) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SmallBusines sServer\RemoteUserPortal\K WLinks\STS (for users) The above is two registry key locationsfor the RWW page, one for administrator and one for normal user, please check the value is set to 1. If it is set to 1, the link will be display on the RWW pages. By default, if the companyweb is installed correctly, and you can access the companyweb, the link will be display there. If the issue still exists, please help gather more information: 1. Do you encountered any problem when accessing it via https://companyweb on the internal client computer? 2. When you run CEICW, have you choose sharepoint services to make sure that the companyweb is published correctly? 3. Do you have ISA installed on your SBS 2003 server? 4. Is it possible for you to ping companyweb from client computer? 5. Is there any error event related to sharepoint services? We appreciate your effort on this issue, please feel free to post back your results. I am glad to be of assistance. HI Bob,
From your description, it seems the registry key is correct, but you still can not view the companyweb link on the RWW sites and the RWW sites works well internally. Here we want to know, if you can view the companyweb via https://FQDN or(server public IP):444. from the external computer? If possible, could you also use telnet Server public IP:444 from external computer to see what is the results. Thanks for your effort. I will be here waiting for your updates. 1. Yes, I can view the company web when using 'https

Hi, I am sorry for replying you later due to the weekend delay. From your description, it seems the companyweb is published correctly we may consider the RWW components have some problem, so I suggest you reinstall RWW components. You can refer to my suggestion below to do that: 1) Go to Control Panel, open Add/Remove Programs, click ''''Change/Remove'''' for the Windows SBS 2003 item. 2) Proceed to the ''''Component Selection'''' page, choose ''''Maintenance'''' to ''''Server Tools'''', and then choose ''''Reinstall'''' to ''network'' & ''''Administration''''. 3) Click Next to proceed with the installation. Thanks for your understanding on this issue, please feel free to post back the results. Best regards, Charles Yang (MSFT) Microsoft CSS Online Newsgroup Support Get Secure! - www.microsoft.com/security ================================================== ==== This newsgroup only focuses on SBS technical issues. There was not a "reinstall" options, so both were uninstalled and
reinstalled. Subsequently, SP1 was run again. Still no companyweb menu option. I can access the companyweb via https:[public IP]:444. By the way how can the companyweb be secured, so external users cannot log on without being authenticated? If there is no easy answer, don't address that question. I need the menu option to be fixed first. Thanks. HI,
Thanks for updates. In order to isolate the issue more exactly, please help gather the information below: 1. Does the issue occurs on all the user accounts or only occurs on the administrator accounts, if it is only occur on the account created by the administrator template, it should be the by design issue. By default, we have no such link for administrator template instead we use "Administer the company's internal Web site" you can access the companyweb via home link on the "Administer the company's internal Web site" webpage. 2. If the issue occurs on all the user accounts, please give us a screenshot of your RWW website link, so that we can understand the issue more clearly. 3. Please also test if you create a new account with user template, does the issue still exists or not? I appreciate your effort on this issue, please feel free to post back the results. I am glad to be of assistance. Best regards, Charles Yang (MSFT) Microsoft CSS Online Newsgroup Support Get Secure! - www.microsoft.com/security ================================================== ==== This newsgroup only focuses on SBS technical issues. The issue occurs on accounts. I have tried several admin and a couple of
user accounts. I created new admin and power user accounts and have screen prints in PDF files. How do I attach files to these posts? I will tell you that all menu options appear as they should with the exception of the companyweb option on both the admin and user menu. Additionally, I can successfully toggle the user and admin registry options to hide/show the options - with the exception of STS. HI Bob, Thanks for updates. If possible, you can email the PDF file to my mailbox v-. Thanks for all your efforts. The issue seems too wired. Best regards, Charles Yang (MSFT) Microsoft CSS Online Newsgroup Support Get Secure! - www.microsoft.com/security ================================================== ==== This newsgroup only focuses on SBS technical issues. If you have issues regarding other Microsoft products, you'd better post in the corresponding newsgroups so that they can be resolved in an efficient and timely manner. You can locate the newsgroup here: http://www.microsoft.com/communities...s/default.aspx When opening a new thread via the web interface, we recommend you check the "Notify me of replies" box to receive e-mail notifications when there are any updates in your thread. When responding to posts via your newsreader, please "Reply to Group" so that others may learn and benefit from your issue. Microsoft engineers can only focus on one issue per thread. Although we provide other information for your reference, we recommend you post different incidents in different threads to keep the thread clean. Please check http://support.microsoft.com for regional support phone numbers.
