I get the following message from "one" of my client's computer"

"Connectivity to the remote computer could not be established. Ensure that
the remote computer is on and connected to the Windows Small Business Server
network"

I can, however, connect to other comptuers on the network.

Please help!!!

Some Troubleshooting steps.

Was that computer connected to the domain with the connect wizard?
If not some settings may not have been enabled;

Is Remote connection enabled on that PC?
(look in System, Remote Tab)

Is the firewall set to allow RDC (In Firewall exceptions)

Is there any other third party tools
Like Zone alarm someone has installed that blocks port 3389

Can you RDP from inside the domain to that PC?
Is the PC as sleep or in hibernation?

Russ

No it was connected manually. What setting are you speaking of?

The Add computer Wizard to the SBS domain does like 57 things.

Remember the 3 rules of SBS
1. use the wizards
2. use the wizards
3. use the wizards then the snap-ins

Sometimes I've seen that issue with Network issues.

Try from another PC internally
You can even login as Admin on that PC
And RWW to that machine
See if you still get issues

Hi,

Thanks for your post and Russ' suggestions.

In addition, I just would like to confirm whether you can RDP from the SBS server itself(instead of from other clients) to the problematic client computer? If it doesn't work, the problem should be with
network communication between the SBS server and the client. Or you can select the "client computers" in SBS management console, right click on the problematic client and select "Connect using
Terminal Services" to see if it works.

Also, since the issue only occurs to specific client computer, in addition to check/disable the firewalls, try a Clean Boot as well:

Clean boot
=================
Let's disable all startup items and third party services when booting. This method will help us determine if this issue is caused by a loading program or service. Please perform the following steps:

1. Click the Start Button type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search box, and then press Enter.

Note: If prompted, please click Continue on the User Account Control (UAC) window.

2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).
3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK".

Then, restart the computer. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts" box and
click OK.

Please test this issue in the Clean Boot environment, if the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, we can use a 50/50 approach to quickly narrow down which entry is causing the issue.

For more information about this step, please refer to the following KB article:

How to perform a Clean Boot in Windows XP
<http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;310353>

Hope this helps.
