Same, but different error

Hi all,
I have the same problem like everybody else. One of the machines I have
doesn't load the windows update page at all. It just hangs. There is no
error number either. I can't even click on the Automatic Updates icon in
the control panel. It will not even open in the security center. If I shut
down or try to restart, it just hangs at "windows is shutting down". I have
to hit the reset button. I've tried changing the CSDVersion to 0, but no
change. I've tried manually installing the windows update controls from
#812956, but no change.

I updated this machine to SP2 with no problems. I think maybe it might have
been an update after SP2 was installed. I think the automatic updates was
enabled. Could it be a certain update after SP2 has been installed?

I've had this happen to another computer that I setup new and when it would
do the automatic update, it would hang. It would then do the same thing as
above. I just reinstalled xp, no loss on that machine. I just don't want
to reinstall on this machine.
