As the subject states,
Every morning I'm greeted with an automatic update consisting of the same
article number each day. Checking the Windows Update website via my Start >
All Programs menu indicates that I've had this problem since early August -
as you can imagine, they were countless pages consisting of the same update
information.
Furthermore, the update installed fine on every occasion as the 'status' has
a green tick beside each attempt.
I have followed the steps on the following link to no avail:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=910339
By doing so, this again proved that the updates were installing. However,
following the methods on the website above (inc. installing the update in
safe mode) has had no effect whatsoever - I was greeted with the same
automatic update following a reboot into Windows.
I've even tried manually removing the Root2 folder so that the update has to
be downloaded again, but this did not resolve the problem.
I deleted the update from the add/remove in control panel, and installed the
update manually in Windows (downloaded from the Microsoft website), this
seemingly worked for a brief moment as a different update started to download
& Install. However, the following morning it reverted back to the update I am
having continious problems with.
The update in question is KB908531, though other people on my network seem
to have the same problem yet with a different article number. We could
deselect these from the Update Server in France, but this is besides the
point - why do they not install?
Anyone with a clue as to what is occuring?
Thanks,
