I was having some stabillity problems with my pc, which has Windows XP Pro
SP1. I thought some problems would be solved if I downloaded the SP2 and
installed it from the Microsoft Web Site. I did so and it took me about a
week to download the 122 MB file at dial-up speed. The update installed with
no problems or errors, the problem was that it did not completely load
Windows after the system rebooted. The system seems to load ok up untill the
point of loading the desktop. At that point, the following error message
appears on the screen:

Isass.exe Entry Point Not Found
the procedure entry poing SamIFreeVoid could not be located in the dinamic
library SamSRV.dll

After I click OK on the window, the screen just stays blue with no more
error messages showing.

I will appreciate any help that you can give me on how to solve this problem.

Should have added that I tried to boot in safe mode and it just did the same
thing.

Sounds like that wasn't a very good idea. Upgrading in hopes of fixing an
existing problem seldom works. Usually doing so only makes diagnosing the
problem that more difficult.

See http://snipurl.com/or47 or...

If you can boot successfully into Safe Mode:

1. Uninstall SP2 via Add/Remove Programs and reboot into Windows.

2. Run a thorough check for hijackware, including posting your HijackThis
log to an appropriate forum.

Check for Hijackware

When all else fails, HijackThis (http://aumha.net/downloads/hijackthis.zip)
is the preferred tool to use. It will help you to both identify and remove
any hijackware/spyware.

**Post your HijackThis log to http://forums.spywareinfo.com/,
http://castlecops.com/forum67.html, http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30 or
other appropriate forum for expert analysis, not here.**

3. Do not install SP2 until an expert gives your HijackThis log a clean bill
of health and the pre-existing problem has been resolved.
