Sapphire Radeon 9200 Series display adapter driver

I recently downloaded and installed what appeared to be an up-to-date driver
for my Sapphire Radeon 9200 Series display adapter from the Sapphire Tech web
site. This adapter is an OEM version based on the ATI chip of the same or
similar name. When running Windows Update after this, the Win Update site
indicated that there is an updated driver named "ATI Technologies, Inc -
Video - SAPPHIRE RADEON 9200SE ATLANTIS 128MB" available. The release date
of this driver is older than the driver date of the one I had just installed.
As well, since updating the Sapphire driver, I have had intermittent
problems with the display refresh.

Any thoughts on this as to whether I should install the ATI driver from
Windows Update? Perhaps it is more specific to the particular chip on the
adapter. What about updating the video BIOS?

Thanks.

If you look in the ATI newsgroup alt.comp.periphs.videocards.ati, it's
better to avoid installing the driver from Windows Update and use the
driver from Sapphire or ATI.
I have a Sapphire 9800SE and I always use the Catalyst driver taken from
ATI; actually there is version 5.8 available.

Thanks, Riccardo. I may try updating the video BIOS from Sapphire to see if
that clears up the refresh problem.
