Hi,

I, running Vista Ultimate on a 3.40GHZ Pentium-4 PC with 2GB of RAM
All my drives are SATA, my primary "C" drive is a WD360 Raptor 10,000 rpm,
my second and third drive are Seagate Barracuda 7.200 RPM.

When accessing my secondary drives, Vista is slow. I have both Seagate
unjumped (300/s) and I wonder if this is the correct setting or should I
install
the jump to lower to 150/s?

BTW: I have the "index" option unchecked in all my drives, is this OK?

Thanks in advance
George

You'd need to check to see if your motherboard supports the SATA-300 drives
and if not then you definitely want to jumper them to the slower speed.

Thanks Richard.

This is my motherboard: http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/cv/

I didn't find the info there.

George

Sorry, I can't tell either. Write to customer support and ask them, I
guess.

You can determine MB parameters by the Chipset family type.
Sometimes the identifier ICH or MCH can help determine the
capabilities.
See the following data sheet on the 925X chipset:
http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/925X/
*Supports SATA 150 transfer mode only

The specifications don't define the SATA thru put. Since the board is 2004
technology you should proceed as if it is SATA-150.
