I use to update my WinXP SP2 when it is available.
And I consider at present it is fully up to date.

Now, is it possible all the downloaded update files
be copy into a different drive, so that if there's a case
of windows failure, I can reformate my system drive,
reinstall the WINXP and do the update offline.

I just don't want to waste my time redownload
all the necessary update files, consists of more than
25MB in which it will take more than 2-3 hours
of download time.

But if it is not possible so I have no option.

TIA.

Mardley.

You can download them from the Catalog and save to be installed later.

How to Download Windows Updates and Drivers from the Windows Update Catalog
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=323166

Click Add button for each update you want to download. Once you have what you want,
Click the "Go To Download Basket" link. Type in or browse to the location where you
want the updates saved to and then Click the "Download Now" button.
Once downloaded, you can then burn them to CD.

Search for a download

So if I have already downloaded them it's too bad, I have to download them
again?
