Apologies if this is self-evident - I am working on a movie project and
editing the timeline. I'm not ready to publish the movie yet. When I
reopen the project my timeline and associated effects with each clip are
gone. How can I get the project to save my timeline also without having
to publish it yet?

thanks for any suggestions

Are you reopening the .mswmm project file?

When you are ready to end the current editing
session...save your project...File / Save Project...

When you wish to resume your editing...open
Movie Maker and go to...File / Open Project...
and browse to the .mswmm file.

Or...just navigate to the saved .mswmm file and
double left click it...Movie Maker will launch with
the project ready for editing.

Maybe the following article would be worth a look:

of course - thanks so much, I knew it would be something ridiculously
easy. I was just launching the Movie Maker application, which was
confusing because all of my clips would be there exactly like in my
project except without the timeline.
thanks again!!
