Saving data on drive D:

My new laptop came with a partitioned hard drive (75Gb on each of two
drives).

Drive D is for data but the default locations for my Music, Pictures,
Documents, etc. is drive C.

How do I change this in Vista? I want my programs on C (where they
are) and my Music, Pictures, Documents and Videos on drive D - and I
want Vista to know this without me having to change folder every time.

Thanks in advance.

Bobby

Hi,

Open your user profile (C:\Users\<user>) and right click the Documents
folder, choose properties. On the Location tab, click "move". Repeat for
other user data directories.

Right-click on Documents, choose Properties and on the Location tab, do
Move.
Repeat the process with any other folders you want to move.

To relocate the "Music" link in the start menu:
- Click the "Start Orb
- Right-click on "Music", then select "Properties
- Click the "Location" ta
- Click the "Move..." butto
- In the "Select a Destination" window, browse into the folde
"D:\Music" (Create it if you don't already have one). -The destinatio
folder should preferably NOT be a drive root folder-
- Click "Select Folder
- Click "Apply
- Wait for Windows to move the xisting contents (if any) of th
previous location. If you get any messages that a file exists in th
destination (such as "desktop.ini", etc), allow the copy to overwrit
the existing file
- When the move is complete, click "OK"The "Music" icon on the Start Menu will now open to "D:\Music"
This technique will also work for the following user profile "folders":
- *Contacts
- Deskto
- *Documents
- *Downloads
- *Favorites
- Link
- *Music
- *Pictures
- Saved Game
- *Searches
- *Videos*You can see these "user profile folders" by clicking on the Start Orb
then clicking your user name. The ones I've highlighted in *bold* ar
usually the ones that I move to alternate locations
