When I am trying to save my desktop settings as an own theme, nothing happens
when I hit the save as button. I can see the default themes but not save my
own. Same prosedure worked ok in XP. I have vista premium.

Hi Bobi,

Are you using the same method as in step 4 here?

Bobi,

Try running a "sfc /scannow" (no quote) command to see if it can find
and fix any system file errors. This may help repair your problem. You
can see how in this tutorial if needed.

Bobi,

I would recommend doing a repair install then. This will show you how.

-- I did the repair installation, but it didn’t help. Instead same odd thing
happened in my second partition. All the folders and subfolders are present
but all files in them have gone. Very con-fusing. I can understand that the
whole partition may be emptied but the folders exists and their content has
gone. Fortunately I have backup of the partition.
I gues there is nothing more to do.

I would restore the backup since you have one.
