SBS 2003 to Server 2008 (standard) problems

I am attempting to migrate an existing SBS 2003 system to a new Windows
Server 2008 box, which will also be running Exchange 2007, using "join
domain" scenario. The strategy is to join the 2008 server to the sbs domain,
migrate AD, DNS, etc and seize FSMO roles (Exchange will be another process).
Anyone with helpful hints welcome to reply.
So far I have been unable to get adprep (sbs) and dcpromo (2008) to agree
that the forest/domain prep has been done. SBS says "Forest-wide information
has already been updated" and same for "domain" as well (even though there is
no record of this in event viewer/directory). However, dcpromo says it still
needs to be run.
I have ensured the schema can be updated and user logon has "schema admin"
rights.
I would really appreciate any suggestions/helpful advice at this point.
Thanks,
Al

Hello AlWhoWishes,

I strongly recommend that you post this to:
microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs

In SBS a lot of thinks are different from the normal server versions. There
you have the experts, especially for upgrading/migrating.
