We were using an external USB drive as an intermediary backup solution until we had our preferred tape backup scenario completed.
Once the third-party backup software and tape drive were humming along, we switched over the backup automation to the new setup - disabling SBS backup at that time.
Recently a user requested some data be restored from a date that put the data on the external USB drive we were using at first.
No worries, I'll just turn off the third-party software (stop services) and re-configure SBS backup and restore the data from the external USB .... nope, wait, it wants to format the drive! Pretty sure that's going to wipe the data I'm hoping to restore. Now what?
Is there a means of configuring SBS backup without formatting the drive?
If not, how can I make those backup files contained on the external USB drive available for restore?
