SBS 2008 - C: drive resizing

Hi,

have been using the built-in option in Server Manager to resize the c: disk.
Did not work out (0 mb to shrink).
Tried to defrag, deactived VSS, pagefile etc. w/o sucess.

One of the tools even srewed the file system, so I could test the system
restore(works pretty well).

I have a 465 GB RAID 10 - controller is the HP onboard. 30 gigs are used.
sbs seems to love putting the Servermanager.log into the last block of the
harddrive.

Any way I can get my HDD cut into a 200 and a 250 gb slice?

Acronis Disk Director, after a backup. Note that SBS questions are best

As far as I know, disk director server version is $609, while easeus partition master server version is $159, it is very cheap. Why not choose the cheap tool to resize C drive on server 2008? What's more, easeus partition master can resize the partition without rebooting the server.

The data security is the most important when resizing partitions.
You cannot extend c drive by shrinking a data partition under 2008 disk management, except that it can "move" the Unallocated space.
You may try Partition Magic Server, which works fast and easy to use. Some professionals said that its enhanced data protection is very good, this is the reason why I use this tool finally. You may refer this guide how to resize c drive on Server 2008 that I've bookmarked.

Before searching third-party software, many server users have tested disk management which is the built-in partition tool by Microsoft. However, when they try to increase disk space on C: drive; they can’t find any key or button to achieve it on Windows server 2000/2003. Because there isn’t resize feature at all. By contrast, Windows server 2008 has a little improvement in disk management; it had added “extend volume” and this function seems to make increase disk space possible. Unfortunately, there are so many limitations on it, you may always find that the “extend volume” is greyed out when you want to increase C: drive. we used third party partition manager to mange our disk on SBS 2008.
third party partition manager is easy to use and reliable.
we used it to extend c drive, convert FAT to NTFS, copy dynamic disk.
more important, for us small business users, the features and price is more reasonable.
