SBS 2008 stuck "Checking for Updates..."

Something has happened to Windows Update on my SBS 2008 server. It was
working fine, but today it sits on Checking for Updates for ever. Last night
was the last time it worked. Other machines on the network are working fine,
so I know it has nothing to do with the network. I'm at a loss for what to
do next to get it working again.

SBS 2008 has WSUS on board so it should have the patched you need
already to go in system tray in the corner.
