Not tried connecting Windows 7 Pro to SBS 2003 ...

I've just been given 4 new Windows 7 Notebooks to setup for new employeed
(One of the directors has just ordered 4 Dell Notebooks with Windows 7 while
I was on Holiday)

Is this a question of just running connect computer?

"Best practise" says to use connectcomputer, yes. However from seven
separate SBS2003 networks and well over 150 computers I have never yet
once used connectcomputer, for any version of windows on the
desktops/laptops.

1. Start, run, sysdm.cpl
2. Add it to the domain
3. On the server, move the computer to the OU of your choice (though
probably SBSComputers)
4. Done.

I'm sure I'll get shot down in flames for this posting as there's
people here for whom "use the wizards" is their mantra. So it all
depends what functionality you use. We don't use RWW or desktop
faxing, and as such the straghtforward "add to domain" functionality
built into XP/Vista/7 does everything we need.

Jim

PS We have 40+ Win7 clients on ur SBS2003 and SBS2003 R2 networks.

Yep, just use connectcomputer (and yes, I'd advise doing it this way
rather than how Jim suggests). If your SBS 2003 is already prepped for
Vista then there are no additional patches required. It all works fine.

If it doesn't check out:
