I have a SBS2003 R2 Server and I'm trying to get Remote Web Workplace up and
running on it. I can't seem to find a thorough guide in setting this up, just
bits and pieces all over the place - some that have conflicting information

Is there an article that covers set up from beginning to end that you are
aware of?

Thanks!

Hi:

Hi.

Not sure what you have seen, not seen, or where the block is, so here is
the general approach.

1. Have your ISP create a public DNS record that points to the external
IP address of your network. You may already have one if you use SMTP mail,
as in: mail.your_domain_nam.com

2. Run the CEICW from the to do list of Server Management. In the screen
for your RWW access, put in "mail.your_domain_name.com" or what whatever
your ISP and you decided on.

3. From a remote location, open IE and type:

https://mail.your_domain_name.com/remote

or what ever you decide to use with /remote on the end.

Note that you can use a static ip address for this, but it is generally hard
to remember, hence the public DNS record to translate.

If that is not enough info, please come back with specific questions.

Thanks Larry! Here is where I'm at:

Ok, I've got it working internally. However when I try to hit it from my
outside IP address I get a 404 not found error. If I leave off the /remote it
brings me to my router login screen. From inside the network I can go to
//servername/Remote and it brings it up and works great.

What exactly are you typing into your browser?

if you don't want readers of this thread to see your landing page, you can
type:

https://mail.mydomain.com/remote or https://www.xxx.yyy.zzz/remote

if you want us to try it, type:

https://mail dot conteso.com slash remote

in that way no bots will pick it up.

and even if they did, you should have strong passwords in place.

or if you (only) want me to test it, email me the exact string and whatever
you typed into the connect to the internet wiz.

lstruckmeyer at mis dash wizards dot com

where at = @ dash = - and dot = .
