~~THE STORY OF THE PROBLEM~

I have coursework due in tomorrow and i havent used my printer in
while. I've installed a new OS since i've last used it, and assumed i
wasn't working because I hadn't installed the software from the CD i
came with

Anyway after ages of searching in my loft i find the disk, try t
install and it's telling me NTPrint & Print Spooler services ar
unavailable, please enable them.

Run - services.msc, i try and find both of these services and they AR
NOT THERE
I've done alot of research since then and found out i need to us
SC.EXE to kinda create the service, or i could do it through th
registry

Only problem is i don't know how!! Please help it's one of my fina
pieces of coursework i really need this printed

~~THE PROBLEM~

I cant install my printer without enabling the services NTPrint & Prin
Spooler, but they arn't there. I need some commands or a regedit twea
to create these services.

(Note - Please don't ask me to check msconfig or services.msc it is NO
there

Thanks in advance guys id really appreciate some help here

I am only replying because no one else has yet.

I am no expert. But it seems to me that you do need to tell the group, what
operating system you were using previously (one assumes Windows XP) and which
one you have now (presumably one of the types of Vista). For folk to help
you, they have to be told these things.

Also what type of printer do you have? How old is it? I suspect that it
worked fine on XP for some time. But now it may need upgraded drivers, if the
manufacturer of the printer has been good enough to issue them. So you might
like to go online to said manufacturer's website and see if the model type
has a Vista update driver. Then you can download and install it and see if
that cures the problem.

If that works for you, or even if it doesn't, it will be useful for you to
reply so that someone else can offer further advice.

You don't need to enable or create services. In any case, that's an old
service you're looking for that doesn't appear in XP let alone Vista.

What you need to do:

Go to the printer mftr.'s website. Find Vista drivers for your specific
model printer. Install them. Now you will be able to print.

If the printer mftr. doesn't have Vista drivers, you will not be able to use
your printer in Vista. Copy your files onto a CD-R or a usb thumb drive and
take them to a friend's for printing or to your local equivalent of
Kinko's.

Then when the pressure to print is off, purchase a printer that will do what
you want and work with Vista.

I imagine Malke has too much class to respond to your intemperate message.
She is no "donut", but the owner of a successsful business fixing PCs and
such for the likes of you. She gives her spare time freely to these pages and
we are all grateful. She has certainly helped me in the recent past.

You shouldn't write in an angry fashion about having a new printer. It's
your fault you never told us what kind of printer you had in the first place.

Her advice for you to get the files off your computer and to get them copied
because you are in a desperate hurry was good advice, sorry I didn't think of
it myself.

I suggest you do not use these pages in future if you haven't the skills to
provide the information correctly.

And I hope your course work is couched in more seemly language than you have
shown to us.
