Doing an Express scan is consistently taking me 80 to 90 seconds for the last
few months. I am not sure at what point it started taking so long. Does it
take this long for everyone? It used to be faster before. Also, doing a
second scan immediately after a first scan still takes the same amount of
time.

I have an XP Home Edition SP2, Pentium 4 1.7 Ghz with 384 Mb RAM. The URL
shows as http://update.microsoft.com/windowsu....aspx?ln=en-us
in case that has any information.

When I tried this from another Win2K3 machine, it took 50 seconds the first
time, but took less than 10 seconds for successive scans.

90 seconds per month, as a percentage, is approximately

90 / ((365/12)*24*60*60) * 100% = 0.003 %

of ones time. I think I can spare that.
