Scan for updates link not working

I have been having the following problem for a while.

When I try to use Update I click through to the link that says "Scan for
updates" and nothing - nil - nada - so I am unable to even do the scan to
being the update process. All other links on the page work OK. I have tried
disabling my Webwasher (pop up and general ad stopper) and my McAfee firewall.

Any ideas?
