Scanner problem with Vista

My aunt recently bought a new HP Vista system. She downloaded the Vista
driver for the existing Epson 1260 scanner she owns which use to run with
her old XP system. Well, it is just amazing how slow it has suddenly
become. When you click on the Epson applet to wake up the scanner, the
Vista hourglass circle spins for around 2 minutes before the application
finally comes up. Then, when you click on the scanner icon it is another 2
minutes approximately before you see the application come up for the actual
scanning. When it scans the document, that seems to occur in normal time.
However, after the doc. is scanned, it's another 2 minutes before you have
access to the image file for viewing, etc. Anyone have any thoughts on
this?
