Scanner sharing

Does anyone know if it is possible to share a scanner over a network in
Vista? I feel the answer is probably no but would be delighted if anyone
could tell me how it is done.

I know it can be done with some 3rd party software that can be purchased...
however maybe someone knows of a freeware solution

I don't see why not. We have a Canon combo printer/scanner/fax and
it's networked to my Vista machine from my wife's XP. I haven't
actually tried a scan but print is fine.

I did find out that the drivers for it do not work in Vista, so you
might check that with your model's mfgr.

To ease networking, get Network Magic. Solved our problems and
there's a free trial.

Sadly no joy to date. Scanner - Epson Perfection 2450 shows up as such in
the Scanners and cameras section of Vista but I can't right click on it and
ask it to share like I could with my printer. Nothing happens at all
whether I right or left click. It works perfectly from my PC but I would
like it to work from the laptop too.
