Scheduled Tasks Terminated

Some of my scheduled tasks are terminated with the following note:

“Task Scheduler terminated a task due to exceeding the time allocated for
execution, as configured in the task definition. Increase the configured task
timeout or investigate external reasons for the delay.”

How can I increase the time to allow these tasks to be completed?

Thanks,
Jerry

See this tut ~
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/13...eate-task.html

Step 15 takes you to Advanced features which will allow you to set a
"time limit" via *Stop any task that runs longer than *

Thanks for the link. When I go to that option, I can't figure out how to set
a "time limit." When I click on "Stop any task ........," it only gives me a
choice of how long to run the task before stopping. I have it set for 3
days, which should be long enough. My error message implies it is not
allowed to finish.

The link below is a screenshot of what I am looking at:

Maybe if you delete that task and redo it using the guide it will work
for you next time.

Sorry, but I guess I don’t understand the concept. When I look at the
snapshot in the link you submitted, it looks similar to the snapshot I
submitted. And, when you click on “Stop any task that runs longer than,” it
merely changes the time for the “runs longer than.” And, if that is what you
mean by “time limit,” then my 3 days number should be long enough. And, by
deleting the task, I would not think that wording would change.

Be sure you have the same value in step 15 and step 26. They are not
coupled.

I believe I have everything matched up, but still no luck. On other
scheduled events, I seem to be okay, except for some reason, when I check
Wake My Computer on one task, it does not hold and the check mark sometimes
disappears. But, other scheduled tasks do okay, so, I tried to use the same
check marks for my problem task without any luck. I might try, as the
previous poster said, to start over and see what happens.

Thanks for the reply. It turns out Vista has a Wizard to allow you to
schedule. It is shorter in steps compared to the link you provided.
Anyway, I tried both techniques, but no luck. However, I think I may have a
possible solution. When I tried to change a setting, I got the following
message:

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...y8C/WakeUp.jpg

Now, on previous tries when using the Wizard, I don’t remember seeing this,
but can’t be sure.
So, until I resolve the password issue, I can see myself having problems.
