I'd like to use Vista Home Premium to schedule
a weekly backup to DVD+RW media, but I don't see
a way to pick which folders to back up. It lets
me backup preset folders such as my Documents, but
how do I do folders not listed? Thanks.

Open Help and Support and type into the Search box:

"What file types are not included in my backups?"

Basically Vista sets up to backup (only) those preset categories of files
that you were referring to. When you choose "Documents" it will back up
all your documents, not just the ones in your UserName|Documents folder.

By the way, I gave up on using CD or DVD for my backups: too many discs, too
much hassle, too many errors. I bought a 160 GB USB external hard drive for
my backup destination; it was money well spent (~$60); now my backups are
'hands free' and error free.

Use a batch file and add it to the Task Scheduler.

xcopy \y [source] [destination]
