Hi recently I made a bad move.. I put something on automatic in the
graphiccard options in screen options which you'll get in to by doing
this. right click on desktop properties then you click properties again
in that window then i changed something there to automatic then i
restarted the computer and i starts normaly but then it just goes black
and i can hear the vista welcome sound.. Ive looked on other threads and
I have tryed pretty much almost everything.. Also when I try to run it
in safemode it stucks at "\windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys"
would really help if you could help me!
I got a Dell XPS m1710 with vista ofcourse.

Thanks

If Dell provided a Windows Installation disc with your computer, try booting
with that disc and repairing your computer with a System Restore.

Dell support should be able to help especially if you are still covered and
you purchased from Dell. If you purchased from a reseller, they may send you
to the reseller support. Use care, that they do not take the easy solution
of having you restore your as built factory configuration.

Two long shots.

If you can borrow an installation disc for the same version of Vista {Home
Premium etc), try using that disc. As I recall, using the repair options on
the installation disc does not require the product key. Do not know if an
other version may work or not.

You have an older version Dell Laptop. Check your manual for directions for
running Dell Diagnosis. On my Dell Laptop, Diagnosis is run even if you have
no display and may {long shot} fix the problem. If you cannot find your
manual, try holding down the Fn key when you turn on power or tapping the
F12 key when you tap F8 for Safe Mode. Also, since you have access to
another computer, you should be able to down load the manual for your
XPS-M1710. If you received a Drivers and Utilities disc, booting from that
disc may also bring up diagnosis.

When you have the problem fixed, you may want to invest in an image backup
program for your computer.
