I have a goofy issue. It's more of an annoyance, really

My laptop screen will basically turn off then back on during the vist
start up. This happens AFTER the scrolling bar screen and BEFORE th
glowing orb/login screen

1. Is this normal
2. Is it possible to get this to stop and how would I go about doin
that

I'm running Vista Home Premium 64bit on an HP dv2000 laptop (AMD 64bi
x2 2GHZ with 4GB RAM

Thanks in advance for any ideas

If it is taking a long time to turn back on, it is a problem. If we are
talking seconds, forget about it. It will be the video drivers resetting.

That is likely the system changing screen resolutions. During the early part
of the boot process, before the window drivers kick in, the computer uses a
low resolution that the bios can utilize for the initial screens. Then, when
the operating system takes over the boot process, the chosen native
resolution for the LCD screen is implemented by the O/S.

Leave it alone as it is not a problem.

Thank you both for the quick reply. It's annoying, but apparently
necessary so I'll ignore it. Thanks again!
