Screen resolution changed after installing Vista SP1

On June 15, I installed Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (KB936330). After
rebooting, the screen resolution changed to 1680 x 1050. I've tried changing
the display settings, but none of them seem to get me back to what I had
before. (Sorry, but I'm not sure of the original resolution.) The desktop
icons are spread out over the entire screen, and the point size in IE is very
small. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a solution? Thanks!!

As long as you *can* actually change your resolution to something else - I
do not know if there is actually an issue with any software. The native
resolution of the monitor in question is obviously 1680x1050 - although it
would certainly utilize a lower resolution - perhaps 1440x900?

You also may want to see if there is an updated driver from the manufacturer
of the video card in the machine.

What fixed it for me: re-run Windows Update. Install all optional updates.
Reboot PC.
