Screen Saver does not show up!!

I am having a problem with the screen saver. It does not show up after the
delay time end, also when I go to the screen saver settings and try to prview
it, the screen saver show up for less than a second and disappear agin.
Also the computer doesn't turn off the LCD or go to the sleep mode after the
time.
Is there anyone who know how to solve this problem?

I have a Dell Vostro 1000 laptop with the touchpad and the laptop keyboard. I
don't have any strange application installed.I only have Microsoft Office,
Norton Internet Security and Yahoo! Messenger.When I had this problem, I
re-installed the Windows, which is Vista Home Basic, but I still have the
same problem. By the way, I didn't have this problem from the beginning,
everything was working properly when I first get the laptop.

Maybe you could try doing System Restore and see if it corrects the problem.

I have already re-installed the windows and the problem still exists. Is
there anyting else to do????
