Screen saver problem

I'm having a persistant problem with the Vista screen saver. After my
computer has been running the screen saver for a few hours, the picture
freezes, and will not go away. The caps lock and number lock lights will go
on or off, and the optical mouse lights is still on, but nothing happens. The
only way to end this problem is to turn off the computer, even this takes
longer than otherwise. Is there a fix for this problem?

That happened to me too while running the Aurora screensaver. Windows Logo
never freezes. Guess which one I run now? :-)

Hi JMT,

See the NOTE in this tutorial at the top, to see if these will apply to
you.

Thanks for your response Mike.
I have tried all the different screen savers, except photos, and the same
thing happens with each one. It also happens when I'm running Windows Media
Player and the visualizations screen is running. I also checked to make sure
the .scr file is installed in the C:\Windows\System32 folder. (Thanks Shawn)
Still the problem persists.

What was the problem that you are working on? I just posted a screen saver
problem over on the installation forum and am looking for a solution.

Thanks in advance.

JMT,

If you are using the Photos screen saver, make sure that you do not
have any videos in the same folder with the pictures (images). This
will cause the screensaver to freeze.

I just did a clean install of Vista Home premium and as soon as the
screensaver starts the screen goes blank.

I need to put my HP notebook to sleep using the power button and then wake
it up. After this the screen saver works but the screen flickers. This
happens with every new start.

I did find that unhooking my MS cordless mouse the screen saver would work
but the above problem still is not solved.

Anyone have any ideas?

Hi Shawn,
The photo screen saver is the only one I have never used.
I don't have photos or videos.
